The wait is over! Major Update 2.2 has arrived in Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, and it’s bringing a massive shake up to the game with a brand new, fast paced Battle Royale experience.
Update 2.2 is going live today, introducing new maps, mastery rewards, and a major overhaul to the Battle Royale experience. 1047 Games is prioritizing a streamlined approach to survival gameplay with a simple philosophy: "Less looting. More shooting."
Here is everything you need to know about Arena Royale and the rest of Update 2.2.
Introducing: Arena Royale
Forget 20 minutes of wandering around looting empty buildings. Arena Royale is designed to merge the tension of a BR with the constant engagement of an arena shooter.
- Squad Size & Player Count: The mode features 24 players split into 6 teams of 4.
- Respawn Mechanics: As long as one squadmate is breathing, your team can respawn. Once the match hits the Final Circle, respawns are disabled, and it becomes a fight for survival.
- The Biomes: Matches take place in a single, focused biome to keep the action tight. Players vote on the location in a new stadium warm up area.
- Returning Biomes: Drought, Glacier, Fracture.
- New Biome: Outskirts - A dense urban battleground with vertical engagements.
Faster Gameplay Loop: The pacing has been completely overhauled. Loot chests open automatically, and enemies drop loot instantly upon elimination - no menu management required. Also, Buy stations are gone: instead, you upgrade gear directly from your inventory using cash earned from eliminations and dynamic in-match events like Hotzone and Splitball.
New Maps: Trihard & Runway
While BR is the focus, the Arena map pool is getting some love too.
- Trihard (Available Today): A map set high in the clouds, designed for aerial combat with launch portals and jump pads.
- Runway (Coming Jan 29): A neon-soaked, Shinjuku-inspired cityscape focusing on fast rotations and aggressive power positions.
